Behind the mystery of half-timbered farmhouses: Doubrava near Lipová

The village of Doubrava (near Lipová in the Cheb region) was founded at the beginning of the 14^th century and is one of the typical medieval colonial villages. The Doubrava open-air museum is located in the oldest preserved Cheb half-timbered farmhouse in Doubrava. The oldest completely preserved half-timbered farmhouse dating from 1751 is now open to the public as a private ethnographic museum. Here you can visit an exhibition of original agricultural tools, instruments and folk furniture of the Cheb region from the 18^th, 19^th and 20^th centuries.

Here you will be welcomed by a large collection of farmhouses, which are enclosed in the form of compact four-sided courts. The significant proportion of half-timbered structures gives the individual buildings and the whole village an unmistakable character.

The fairytale village of Doubrava miraculously escaped the devastation of the countryside in the post-war years and is still a unique and irreplaceable testimony to the original folk architecture of the Cheb region. That is why this village was declared a village conservation area in 1995.
