Welcome to the region of healing waters. The Karlovy Vary region is the most important locality providing professional spa care using local natural healing resources in the Czech Republic.
The fame of the Karlovy Vary region is still closely related to the spa industry. There are a total of 5 spa towns. The largest, most famous and most visited spa town in the Czech Republic is Karlovy Vary, which uses dozens of healing thermal and mineral springs for treatment. In the westernmost part of Bohemia, near the historic town of Cheb, lies a small spa town with a romantic atmosphere - Františkovy Lázně. Františkovy Lázně was founded as the first peat spa in the world. The third peak of the world-famous "West Bohemian spa triangle" is the picturesque Mariánské Lázně. On 24th July 2021, these three jewels of Czech spa industry, together with eight other important European spas, were inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. They were inscribedas a transnational serial nomination of the "Great Spas of Europe". The triple clover of the most important Czech spa towns in the Karlovy Vary Region is completed by the spa town of Jáchymov, which is known as the first radon spa in the world, and the small spa town of Lázně Kynžvart near Mariánské Lázně, which, in addition to treating adults, also treat the very youngest patients (children).
