The most beautiful and important spa towns of Europe (Great Spas of Europe), including three Czech representatives - the towns of the world-famous West Bohemian spa triangle - Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně, were inscribed on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List on 24th July 2021.
The Great Spas of Europe was a multinational serial nomination for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The final nomination of the Great Spas of Europe consisted of a total of 11 spa towns from seven European countries:
The famous baths of Europe will be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in the summer of 2021.
These are historic spa towns that were founded and developed around naturally occurring healing resources. The nominated towns represent a type of international spa towns from what is now considered the "Golden Age of Spa" (18th century - 1920´s).
