The worldwide reputation of Františkovy Lázně as a place especially suitable for the treatment of women´s diseases (especially infertility) resulted from its significant therapeutic results. These have been achieved on the basis of well-developed spa treatment using very valuable natural healing resources. In Františkovy Lázně these are mainly peat, sulphur-iron peat and mud, naturally carbonated with mineral water. Peat treatment has also become part of the complex spa treatment for some joint diseases. Natural mineral waters rich in carbon dioxide are used to treat heart and vascular diseases. The content of Glauber´s salt, iron and other important substances in mineral springs is used to successfully treat metabolic disorders.
The town is therefore afforded special protection and its economic and cultural life is regulated in order to create the most favourable conditions for the provision of comprehensive spa care.
