The wooden pavilion was built in 1850 in honour of Baron von Mecséry, an important guest of the town and governor of Bohemia.
Mecséry´s lookout is located on a platform above a boulder rock outcrop near the Royal Hotel in Mariánské Lázně. Previously, there was an ornate wooden pavilion on this site, which was built in 1850 in honour of an important guest of Mariánské Lázně - the Austrian governor of Bohemia, Baron Karl von Mecséry. The gazebo was restored in 2000 according to the design of architect Dalibor Urbanec. The Mecséry viewpoint offers a beautiful view of the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the spa hotel New Baths.
